You can expect me to provide structure so that you continue to move forward in your work. You will work with scales that will provide data to demonstrate changes that you have made.

Above all, we will celebrate your progress and share a healthy dose of laughter in our time together.

  • Yes, once you’re established as a client and have had an in-person session (unless you’re proximity to the office makes this impossible), and depending on your treatment plan, virtual therapy sessions are available.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is a therapy using alternating bilateral stimulation. This is commonly accomplished by simply moving one’s eyes back and forth with the aid of the therapist.

We often acquire symptoms that may have been caused by an unpleasant experience. Our reactions, such as shock, embarrassment, dread, fear, nervousness, and more, can get trapped and stored in our bodies and result in uncomfortable symptoms.

EMDR is a therapy that can help release blocks that are stored in the body. These blocks may have been created because of a bad experience in your life. When we experience events that seem harsh to us, we have reactions that can trigger various symptoms throughout our lives...until we reprocess the events in a healthy manner. EMDR therapy can help with this reprocessing and alleviate or even eliminate uncomfortable symptoms of trauma, such as PTSD, social anxiety, anxiety, low self-esteem, guilt, depression, or other symptoms.

About mental health and EMDR therapist Antonia Yanuzzi

“I have had so many experiences that have helped me to deeply understand other people and challenges. My vast life experiences allow me to empathize and bring clarity to those who seek my help.”

A major life detour brought me exactly to where I needed to be.

As someone who loves listening to people’s stories and helping people achieve results that make their lives better in some way, I found myself attracted to counseling in college. I went so far as to begin an advanced counseling degree after college graduation. That’s when a “little detour” into education became a 20-year career, culminating in a principalship in a New Jersey school district.

Even though working in the school system provided fulfilling opportunities to build rapport with students, parents, teachers, and administrators and help them work through problems to get results successfully, I found myself pining over the career that I did not pursue. I had gone to graduate school for Education Administration, but what I always wished was that I had gone back for mental health counseling.

Finally, after 20 years, I committed to the career that I had always wanted. I realized that it benefited me to have taken the detour because in doing so, I had so many experiences that have helped me to deeply understand other people’s challenges. My vast life experiences allow me to empathize and bring clarity to those who seek my help. And this realization makes me love counseling more and more every day.

You’ll find me to be empathetic, tenacious, a great listener, humorous, compassionate, goal oriented, intuitive, spiritual, and upbeat. I’ll greet you with a smile, remind you of how far you’ve come and of the progress you made, and help you connect the dots to find clarity and relief.

I can’t tell you about myself without mentioning my love for dogs. My family and I are passionate supporters of rescue organizations. Our dog Dani is a St. Bernard mix rescue. As a family we had decided to name our next dog Dan, an acronym of our first names. We always had males , but when we fell in love with a girl, she became Danielle, or Dani for short!

Toni is a highly-skilled counselor that truly cares about the outcomes of all of her patients. She is consistent and dispalys shear joy when progress is made. I have had other counselors who specialized in EMDR therapy, and she is one of the best. It is obvious that Toni's passion for empowering others to become the best version of themselves makes each session highly productive with long-lasting results. I am grateful for meeting her and being under her guidance to resolve past issues that blocked my ability to create fully. Thank you very much Toni.

“I could not even look at a plane without wanting to vomit. Now I’m all in and can’t wait. Also, EMDR helped with a lot of other issues such as anxiety that I have, and with other issues I never even knew I had. I highly recommend Antonia Yanuzzi. She is an awesome therapist and listens without judgment. She has helped me in more ways than one, and I am truly thankful for her.”
